Livestock Turnkey for Developing Countries

With the burgeoning demand and critical need for animal protein in Developing Countries and the critical need to build sustainable livestock sectors, a vital focus of ILRIC's capabilities is the provision of a Livestock Turnkey, ensuring the longterm establishment and success of livestock industries in countries with great need.

This product will ensure that seedstock and animal genetics are supported in these markets by the provision of management, education, nutrition and disease and production control and support modules, the programme custom built according to the needs of particular countries, their culture, climate, geography and environmental factors.

ILRIC recognises that this importance goes beyond the concept of economic/financial gains to that of sustainable food security and production of a marketable surplus. Population growth, local economic development and increasing urbanisation have created a demand for livestock products within many developing countries. ILRIC regards the strong increase in demand for livestock products in these countries as an exciting opportunity. The difficulties often facing livestock industries within developing countries include: widespread rural poverty, degradation of the resource base, unsustainable livestock production practices, limited market development and insufficient community participation.  Integrated approaches that address sustainable natural resources management along with rural development in an environment of increased economic efficiency are required. ILRIC has the ability to formulate coherent strategies to address these multifaceted problems.

Supply of genetics alone does not go far enough and is not conducive to establishing long-term trading relationships: value adding of the total supply chain does

ILRIC can develop specific applications and opportunities for high value product & returns

and thus assist in establishing sustainable livestock industries.
