A total of 15,242 breeding heifers and bulls were certified by ILRIC in 2016 which was down by 54% on the 28,394 cattle certified in 2015.
Breaking down the 2016 certifications further the statistics show:
As with previous years, the majority (83%) of cattle certified were category 2 heifers. A total of 2,636 (17%) Category 1 heifers were certified in 2016.
The export destination for certified breeding cattle was China.
